Espina-Kurachi Duo on tour

Clarinetist Oskar Espina Ruiz and Pianist Keiko Kurachi first joined forces as a duo in 1999, winning top prizes at the Olga Koussevitzky and Artists International competitions in New York and performing in recital at Steinway Hall and Wall Street’s Concerts-to-Go that same year. Recitals in Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing and Spain followed with high critical acclaim, recording their first CD as a duo in 2001. Espina Ruiz is based in New York and Kurachi in Paris.

KEIKO KURACHI, PIANO

Pianist Keiko Kurachi brings into her performances the depth and nuance of three great schools: the Toho Gakuen of Tokyo, the Juilliard of New York and the Ecole Normale of Paris, where she studied and graduated from. Keiko Kurachi has performed as soloist and chamber musician at main stages in Europe, the United States, China and Japan, and has been the recipient of numerous international accolades, including the “Prix Ricardo Viñes” at the Orléans International Piano Competition, 3rd prize at the Porto International Piano Competition, 3rd prize at the Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Piano Competition, 1st prize at the Concourso Europeo dei Duchi d’Acquaviva and 1st prize at the Ferdi & Lili Statzer Piano Competition in Istanbul.

Since 2006 Keiko Kurachi works as accompanist at the Scola Cantorum in Paris. Previously she worked as accompanist of the Andre Emelianoff Cello Studio and the Itzhak Perlman Program in New York. Currently she combines teaching piano in Paris, together with a busy schedule of solo and chamber music concerts.

Her piano teachers include F. Thinat, J. Bernier, M. Canin, P. Badura-Scoda, K. Nakamura, H. Shibanuma, N. Kawashima and H. Edo, with A. Emelianoff, D. Erlih, F. Galimir, J. Lateiner and I. Perlman as her main chamber music coaches.
